November 23, 2007 - Lighting the Love Tree

PRESS RELEASE

The Cancer Society of the Bahamas celebrated the lighting of its 40 foot Love tree at the Mall at Marathon last evening for the 18 th consecutive year amongst an excited crowd of supporters and participants. The Love Tree is one of the Society’s main fundraising events.

“This event ushers in the holiday season and symbolizes a sense of hope for many, particularly cancer patients, their families and friends,” stated Treasurer and Founding member of the Society, Mrs Susan Roberts. “Cancer has touched the lives of everyone in the community and by donating a minimum of $10.00 the lights of this huge tree shine throughout the season to remind persons of loved ones they have or those they might have lost. Life is so fragile and with the many challenges that we are faced with daily, it is extremely important that we spread love and hope throughout the community.”

President of the Cancer Society, Terry Fountain added: “We are extremely grateful to the many persons who support this cause. These funds ensure that the Society is able to operate throughout the coming year. All donations are acknowledged daily on the Love Stand inside the Mall.”
